Dancing Through Life with WICKED
If you’re looking to travel to the Ozdust Ballroom, no need to hitch a ride farther than Alonzo King LINES Dance Center here in San Francisco. On Friday, April 1, WICKED’s Kali Grinder (ensemble) was on hand to teach 16 students how to dance through life with a Wicked-themed master class. Starting with isolations, the group warmed up for 15 minutes before Kali broke down the wicked dance moves for the instrumental break in “Dancing Through Life.” The dancers learned about the fundamentals of swaying, sweeping, and “melting” with “champagne hands” as they picked the sequence apart. After running through the routine a number of times—with and without music—they split into two groups for their performances of a lifetime.
With 15 minutes left in the class, the group sat down and had an intimate Q&A with Kali, asking her everything from her background, questions about auditioning, voice lessons, continuing their education, and much more.
