HAMILTON SF Wins National Fundraising Award
Each year, company members from every Broadway show and touring company help raise needed dollars for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The fundraising efforts culminate in a magical performance at the annual Easter Bonnet Contest, this year performed on one of the Broadway stages.
SHN is proud that our very own “And Peggy” company of HAMILTON, currently playing at the SHN Orpheum Theatre, won the award for the most dollars raised by a touring company. Our HAMILTON company raised, with your help, an astounding $513,734. HAMILTON creator Lyn-Manuel Miranda made a surprise appearance to accept the overall fundraising award.
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS draws upon the talents, resources and generosity of the American theater community. Since 1988 Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has raised more than $300 million for essential services for people with HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington DC, including many beneficiaries in the San Francisco/Bay Area.
The Easter Bonnet Contest is one of the most sought-after tickets in New York each year. With members of the Broadway community receiving first access, only a few tickets are open to the general public. Check out this video to sneak a peek at some of the fun that was presented. Click here to watch.
